John Wayne teams with his long-time friend and favorite director John Ford for this fifth screen version of Peter B. Kyne's oft-filmed 1913 novel. Ford's directorial acumen, with the help of stunning Technicolor photography make this 1948 version the best screen adaptation of Kyne's novel.
