(1970) Christopher Lee, Leo Genn, Maria Schell, Howard Vernon. Lee is superb as an evil judge who condemns citizens to be burned as witches. Vernon is terrific as his twisted executioner. If you like witch-hunting movies like Witch Finder General and Mark of the Devil, then this is right up your alley. Clearly one of director Jess Franco's very best efforts.
