A terrible storm with lashing rain and a hurricane-like wind is sweeping over the mountains of Wales. Margaret, Philip and Roger have no way to go. They find refuge in an old, dark house belonging to the Femm family. The three stranded people are not comfortable with the residents, but they have to spend a night there whether they like it or not...
The great Boris Karloff can be seen here alongside Charles Laughton in his first leading role. The International Film Encyclopedia judged it: A horror comedy that is one of the great classics of the genre: a firework display of masterpieces. The film was also shown on television under the title The House of Horror.
